Dear readers,

Basque terrorist group ETA has made an historic apology to the victims of its violent independence campaign ahead of its final dissolution next month. In a document, the group, which killed over 850 people in five decades, admitted "the harm caused during the course of its armed trajectory."

Meanwhile, Madrid's beleaguered regional premier Cristina Cifuentes has returned her controversial master's degree but the move has done little to quiet the calls for her resignation.

In other news, Spain and Venezuela have agreed to rebuild ties and return their ambassadors to their respective posts after a months-long diplomatic spat.

And finally, news of Richard Gere's marriage to Spaniard Alejandra Silva was one of our top stories this week.

We hope you enjoy this selection of articles from the EL PAÍS English Edition, thanks for reading.
